The Anne Arundel County Department of Health provides low or no cost comprehensive sexual health and contraceptive care to women of childbearing age.

Family Planning Services

For girls and women ages 12-50*, the Department of Health provides:

Physical examinations
Education on birth control methods and supplies
Pap tests for cervical cancer and problems
Laboratory tests for anemia
Testing and treatment for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) including chlamydia, gonorrhea, human papillomavirus (HPV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
Counseling on sexual health and general health topics
Free pregnancy tests
Free emergency contraception
Pre-conception health counseling
Folic acid (a vitamin all women need)
Colposcopy for those with abnormal Pap smears. This specialized care includes examination, evaluation and treatment of the cervix.
Referrals for additional care are made if needed
Medical social work services

* The Department encourages parents' involvement in their children's health care, but with Maryland's Minor Consent Law teens may seek confidential contraceptive and STI-related care on their own.

Hepatitis B
Tdap** (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis)
Measles, Mumps & Rubella**
HPV** (human papillomavirus)

**If under 18 years old, patients need parent's consent for these vaccines.

Fee for service is based on income and family size. Medical Assistance and participating insurance plans are accepted. Services are not denied to those unable to pay. Donations are accepted.
