Youth Risk Reduction

Updated 4.4.08

The Learn To Live Youth Risk Reduction (YRR) programs provide information and activities to help children, teens and their parent or guardian make healthy choices. Parents are their children's strongest influence. Establishing good communication and a healthy environment with children can help teach them to learn healthy habits.

Go to Learn To Live Raising Healthy Kids page to find information on:

  • Talking to your kids
  • Healthy eating and physical activity for your family
  • Tobacco use prevention
  • Preventing common childhood injuries
  • Practicing sun safety
  • Teen health

YRR staff provide educational materials and outreach for youth through interactive activities at community groups and schools. The activities, which promote healthy messages, include Food Fuels Fun (healthy eating and physical activity), Tasting of the Greens (tasting green fruits and vegetables), Smoking Stinks, Tobacco-Free Kids Week, Alex the Alligator Sun Safety Fun Time, Sun Safety Day and Healthy Teens (making healthy decisions and choices).
