Sexual Health Services

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health provides low-cost or free comprehensive reproductive health care to young women and men up to age 24 through the Healthy Teens and Young Adults Program.

Services include:

  • Physical examinations
  • High School sports physicals
  • Pap tests for cervical cancer screening
  • Laboratory tests for anemia
  • Counseling, testing and treatment for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), including chlamydia, gonorrhea, hepatitis, human papillomavirus (HPV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
  • Education on birth control methods and supplies
  • Counseling on sexual health and general health topics
  • Pre-conception health counseling
  • Free pregnancy tests
  • Free emergency contraception
  • Folic acid (a vitamin all women need)  
  • Medical social work services
  • Referrals for additional care, if needed

* The Department encourages parents' involvement in their children's health care, but with Maryland's Minor Consent Law teens may seek confidential contraceptive and STI-related care on their own.

Vaccines:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Tdap** (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis)
  • Measles, Mumps & Rubella**
  • HPV** (human papillomavirus)

**If under 18 years old, patients need parent's consent for these vaccines.

Fees for service are based on income and family size. Medical Assistance and participating insurance plans are accepted. Services are not denied to those unable to pay. Donations are accepted.
