Salary: $16.06 per hour
Benefits (Full-Time): Participation in the county’s group health plan (including prescription, dental and optical). Paid holidays, annual leave and sick leave. The selected employee may also participate in the County’s deferred compensation program at his or her own expense.
Nature of Work: Under general supervision, this position interviews, evaluates and monitors clients, and the position provides education, guidance and isolation/quarantine parameters based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Maryland Department of Health’s recommendations for individuals who meet case definitions and confirmed, suspect or probable cases of a communicable disease. The selected candidate should have excellent interpersonal and culturally sensitive skills in order to build and maintain trust with patients and contacts. Additionally, this position requires the ability to present information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. The selected candidate will be required to have a personal vehicle available for use with mileage reimbursement provided per Department of Health policies and possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. The position will be required to work day, evening and weekend shifts as needed.
The applicant must have the ability to communicate fluently, both verbally and in writing, in the English and Spanish languages.
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency with computers
- Customer service and data entry experience
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with medical terminology and call center experience.
Experience: Experience performing interview/investigation work without violating confidentiality and demonstrating resourcefulness in locating patients and contacts who may be difficult to reach or reluctant to engage in conversation. Some familiarity with epidemiology preferred but not required. Experience collecting data and using electronic databases and other computer software packages.
