Salary: $21.09 per hour
Benefits: Participation in the county’s group health plan (including prescription, dental and optical), paid sick leave, paid annual leave and paid holidays. The selected applicant may also participate in the county’s deferred compensation plan at his or her own expense.
Nature of Work: Under the direct supervision of the Program Administrator for the HIV/STI Prevention and Care Program, duties include HIV/STI risk reduction education, counseling and referral and community outreach/engagement in order to prevent the transmission of HIV/STIs in Anne Arundel County. Duties require proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry skills. The position requires travel throughout Anne Arundel County. The selected candidate will be required to have a personal vehicle available for use with mileage reimbursement provided per Department of Health policies and will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. The Occasional weekend and evening work required. Desire a dynamic, self-starter who is outgoing and can work independently.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in public health education, community health education, health science or related behavioral sciences from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One year of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education.
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 credit hours in public health education, community health education, health science or related behavioral science and two years of experience planning, developing, implementing and promoting health education projects may be substituted for the required education and experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications: CHES® (Certified Health Education Specialist) certified. Prior STI experience.
