Salary: $15.56 per hour

Benefits: Participation in the county’s group health plan (including prescription, dental and optical). Paid holidays, annual leave and sick leave. The selected employee may also participate in the County’s deferred compensation program at his or her own expense.

Job Description

Nature of Work: Under general supervision, this position interviews, evaluates and monitors clients, provides education, guidance and isolation/quarantine parameters based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Maryland Department of Health recommendations for individuals who meet case definitions and confirmed, suspect or probable cases of a communicable disease. The selected candidate should have excellent interpersonal, culturally sensitive skills so that they are able to build and maintain trust with patients and contacts. Additionally, this position requires the ability to present information clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. The selected candidate will be required to have a personal vehicle available for use with mileage reimbursement provided per Department of Health policies and possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. The position will be required to work day, evening and weekend shifts as needed.

Minimum Qualifications


  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers
  • Customer service and data entry experience

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with medical terminology and call center experience.

Experience: Experience performing interview/investigation work without violating confidentiality and is able to demonstrate resourcefulness in locating patients and contacts who may be difficult to reach or reluctant to engage in conversation. Some familiarity with epidemiology preferred but not required. Experience collecting data and using electronic databases and other computer software packages.
