Wet Season Percolation Testing

Department of Health Announces 2023 Wet Season Percolation Tests Ends April 21, 2023

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health, Environmental Health Bureau will end annual “wet season” evaluation and percolation tests on Friday, April 21, 2023. Wet season applications must have been received and percolation tests scheduled by March 31, 2023 to have assured testing during the 2023 season, which began January 23, 2023. Effort will be made to accommodate testing for applications received after March 31, 2023 and that have not yet been scheduled, but it cannot be guaranteed.

The wet season test period is set for Anne Arundel County using data from monitoring wells throughout the County to determine groundwater levels. Based on the recent decrease of observed water levels, wet season testing will end on April 21, 2023. Wet season testing is required on County properties that are located in areas where high water table conditions occur. Testing helps avoid inaccurately assessing the ability of a septic system to properly function in all seasons of the year. The information provided by the site evaluation and perc test is used to determine the size and type of septic system that can be installed on a specific lot.
