The Anne Arundel County Department of Health, Environmental Health Bureau will end annual wet season evaluation and percolation tests on Friday, May 3, 2024. Wet season applications must have been received and percolation tests scheduled by March 29, 2024, to have assured testing during the 2024 season, which began January 29, 2024. Efforts will be made to accommodate testing for applications received after March 31, 2024, and have yet to be scheduled, but they cannot be guaranteed.
The wet season test period is set for Anne Arundel County using data from monitoring wells throughout the county to determine groundwater levels. Based on the recent decrease in observed water levels, testing will end on May 3, 2024. Wet season testing is required on county properties located in areas where high water table conditions occur. Testing helps avoid inaccurately assessing the ability of a septic system to properly function in all seasons of the year. Information provided by the site evaluation and perc test is used to determine the size and type of septic system that can be installed on a specific lot.
