Job Description

Nature of Work:

Under the supervision of the CHN Program Supervisor for School Health Training Services, provides clinical supervision and clinical evaluation of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Certified Medication Technician (CMT) trainees at the clinical training site. As a trainer, functions include backup instructor for School Health orientation, CPR, and First Aid classes provided by School Health Services for School Health and selected public school employees to ensure compliance with COMAR regulations. Functions as a backup instructor for Medication Assistant didactic training and participates in and/or provides instruction for Certified Nursing Assistant training as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. May also participate in employee health activities - arranging and/or performing immunizations, fit tests and TSTs.

Requires travel throughout Anne Arundel County for assigned program activities as needed. Must provide their own transportation, possess a driver’s license valid in Maryland and will receive reimbursement for official travel expenses per Department of Health policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Two years of experience as a registered nurse, at least one year of which was in caring for the elderly or chronically ill in the past five years, as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing for a CNA/CMT Clinical Instructor/Trainer position.

License or Certification:

Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland Board of Nursing or have a multistate licensure privilege to practice registered nursing in Maryland.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who possess one or more of the following: two years of full-time experience working as a school nurse, two years of full-time experience supervising or working with subordinate staff, such as CNA/CMTs or LPNs, or a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
