Job Description
Nature of Work: The Overdose Education Naloxone Distribution (OEND) Coordinator is a key part of Anne Arundel County’s strategy to prevent overdose deaths by providing educational Overdose Response trainings, facilitator trainings, harm reduction outreach, Naloxone, Fentanyl Test Strip, and Xylazine Test Strip distribution, among a wide variety of people such as community residents, groups, and people who use drugs (PWUD). The position of OEND Coordinator within the Harm Reduction program provides overall management and administration for the Overdose Response Program from the ACCESS Grant. The OEND Coordinator develops, coordinates, and conducts community trainings to educate individuals and groups about Harm Reduction and how to prevent, recognize, and respond to overdoses (including instruction in rescue breathing and naloxone administration). The coordinator ensures that trainings are conducted in a professional and culturally competent manner. The OEND Coordinator builds and trains a network of facilitators to conduct community trainings and assembles all materials needed for trainings. The OEND Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all Harm Reduction Vending Machines (HRVM) sites throughout Anne Arundel County. Serves as the lead/co- lead of community-based partnership efforts to decrease drug overdoses and expand harm reduction education in Anne Arundel County with a special emphasis on the populations at highest risk. Prepares written materials and resources for professional audiences for a variety of purposes; such as education, strategic planning, grant reporting, media, and advocacy. Ensures that all grant deliverables are met completely and in a timely manner. |
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or a related field from an accredited college or university. |
Experience: Two years experience providing community health education and/or training and technical assistance to law enforcement, emergency medical service staff, and other diverse partners with varied needs. Knowledgeable in overdose prevention, substance use disorder treatment, harm reduction, and recovery. Skills in monitoring, analyzing and interpreting data. Experience with facilitating meetings (in person and virtually), managing group dynamics and providing consultation with other professionals and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, maintain good working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, and execute problem solving skills. Ability to develop program goals and objectives and work independently and within a team to achieve those goals and objectives. Strong dedication to cultural competency and health equity. |
License or Certification: Have and maintain a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Maryland. |
Desired or Preferred Qualifications: Public Speaking, Knowledge of Harm Reduction principles and strategies; Very strong time management and organizational skills; Ability to work independently and on a team; Excellent written and oral communication skills; An advanced understanding of the public behavioral health system; Proficient with Google based business tools (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Google Meet, etc.) and Zoom. |
