Location: 791 Aquahart Road, Glen Burnie, MD 21061
Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Description

Nature of Work:

Manage the WIC Program's English and Spanish phone lines, schedule appointments, provide program information and perform precertification interviews to prospective clients. Perform a wide range of clerical support tasks. Translate WIC education materials to Spanish and assist with translation during nutrition counseling sessions. Maintain Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) activities per state WIC policies and procedures.

Under the direction of the office supervisor, the WIC Services Associate Trainee is the entry-level of work providing paraprofessional services to WIC clients such as income eligibility determination, health screening, health care and other referrals, and basic nutrition education. Employees in this class do not have supervisory responsibilities. Successful applicants for WIC Services Associate Trainee will attend the WIC Services Associate training program. The work may require travel to various locations throughout the county.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED)

Experience:

Bilingual Office Services Clerk – Two years of experience performing clerical duties.
WIC Services Associate Trainee – None.

Notes:

Must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

WIC experience preferred.
