Job Description
Nature of Work: Will work as a two-person team, supervised by an Environmental Health Specialist III and/or Environmental Sanitarian Supervisor. Conduct surveys and educate residents to improve property conditions that contribute to rodent populations within identified communities. Distribute educational materials and build relationships with residents on proper trash storage, exterior maintenance and rodent control measures. Collect field data and report on rodent activity. Participate in securing community-wide improvements on proper trash storage, exterior maintenance and rodent control measures. Perform re-inspections of properties to evaluate progress toward reaching community-wide goals. Must be able to walk 3 miles per day, 5 days per week in alleyways and on properties with dogs, cats, sloping terrain, high grass, weeds and rodents. Must be able to perform field duties during high temperature conditions, rainy weather and in areas where rodent populations are active. |
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED) |
Experience: College students with an environmental health, environmental science, biology or other science concentration and residents in the Brooklyn Park area are encouraged to apply. |
License or Certification: Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for travel to identifier communities; eligible for mileage reimbursement. |
