Location: 3 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401
Hours: 40 hours per week
Benefits: Participation in the County’s group health plan including prescription, dental, and optical, paid holidays and sick leave. Optional deferred compensation program at employee's own expense.

Job Description

Nature of Work:

Receives incoming phone calls from Medicaid clients requesting transportation to medical appointments, screening callers for the following criteria: medical necessity, non-emergency nature, no alternate means of transportation, verification that service is obtained at the closest location, verification that Medical Assistance number is valid that service to be provided is covered by Medicaid, checks DMV Records. Inquires if there is a need for an attendant and/or wheelchair accessibility, and provides adequate notification time of appointment (requests must be made 48 hours in advance). Provides daily documentation to vendor/contractor of all approved clients and pertinent information to complete the transport, such as mode of transportation, appointment time and appointment location. Maintains adequate filing for transportation documents: typical documents include approvals, no-shows, denials, client complaints and other documents for eligibility standards. Enters client transportation activity in the computer database. Maintains required annual documentation of eligibility.

Must display a willingness and ability to fulfill requests from supervisors for special assignments to enhance the efficiency or effectiveness of the program: activities are generally clerical. Must be reliable in attendance and punctual, providing adequate coverage in times of pre-scheduled absences and must efficiently utilize time. Must display tact and professionalism when dealing with co-workers, clients and the general public. Must be dependable, adaptable and cooperative in accepting direction from authorities. Must display initiative and willingness to learn. Employee responds to call-down drills or actual emergency events as soon as possible, regardless of when the message is received.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED)

Experience:

One year of customer service experience.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with medical assistance. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
