B. If you purchase a food facility, which has been closed for any period of time, the required forms and fees are listed below.

Before you apply, it is recommended that you contact the Anne Arundel County Department of Health at 410-222-7192 to schedule an appointment for an inspection of the closed facility. This inspection will indicate what needs to be done in the kitchen and other areas so that you can receive a license to operate the facility. NOTE: The work you wish to do (or are required to do) may require a BUILDING PERMIT. Building permits may be applied for at the Permit Center located at 2664 Riva Road, Annapolis 21401. For food facilities in the City of Annapolis, apply at the Department of Inspections and Permits, 145 Gorman Street, Third Floor, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Once the items specified in the courtesy inspection report have been corrected and the food preparation manual (HACCP) has been approved, call 410-222-7192 for a pre-opening inspection. See Food Service Facility Pre-Opening Checklist. When the facility has passed this inspection, you will receive approval to open for business.

For detailed information on planning, building permits, licensing and HACCP requirements, call the Anne Arundel County Department of Health at 410-222-7192 and request a Plan Review packet.
