We Can End Gun Violence

On June 6, 2024, the Anne Arundel County Department of Health Gun Violence Intervention team hosted our annual wear-orange community meeting. It was a very successful event, where a host of community residents, government officials, community partners, law enforcement, and students all came together to honor victims of gun violence. The focus of the meeting was the open discussion about the county data related to gun violence. Our primary goal was to discuss the barriers we see and identify solutions from a community perspective to address and prevent gun violence strategically.

On Friday, June 7th the Anne Arundel County Department of Health had the privilege of partnering with Growth Matters and The Complete Players Charity to host a Gun Violence Awareness Artwork and Slogan contest at Brooklyn Park Middle School. We allowed students to get creative and freely express themselves, about what Gun violence prevention means to them. We had over 40 students participate in the Slogan creation and 9 students submit artwork. The winning slogan was “44,341 People Die By Gun Violence Every Year, It Could Happen To You.” #EndGunViolence
